Plečnik House

An insight into the life of Jože Plečnik is possible with our guided tours of his home, filled with intimate personal heritage. The Plečnik extension to the original house has been preserved in its original shape and form, including Plečnik’s own furniture.

The new permanent exhibition at the Plečnik House in Trnovo presents the most important projects of the late architect. Plečnik's creativity comes to life through the plans, models and photographs of his creations such as the Zacherl House in Vienna, Prague Castle, the National and University Library in Ljubljana, the Ljubljana Central Market, Žale Cemetery, the Church of St. Michael at the Ljubljana Marshes and numerous other masterpieces. Several plans of Plečnik’s never realized visions are also on display. The Cathedral of Freedom, the master's vision of the Slovenian parliament, is especially worthy of our attention.
