The idea about founding the museum in Tržič was initiated by a powerful craft tradition, and the rich technical and ethnological heritage of the region. It was first realized in 1952 in the form of a local museum association, which transformed into the Tržič Museum 12 years later. The Pollak Hut, a former craft manor of the famous Pollak family, presents Craft Collections (leather processing, shoemaking, wheel writing, charcoal burning, textile manufacturing and dyeing), Permanent Gallery Collection and National Winter Sports Collection.
Visitors can also see the Tržič town centre and a branch of the former concentration camp Mauthausen at Ljubelj with a memorial room.
