The Slovenian Museum of Christianity is a successor of the Slovenian Museum of Religion. Its main mission is to collect, protect, preserve, present, manage, renovate and record the sacral movable cultural heritage of the Republic of Slovenia. The premises of the museum are situated in the Stična Cistercian Abbey.
The Museum hosts numerous temporary exhibitions and two permanent exhibitions: “History of Christianity in Slovenia”,which takes visitors back to the origins of Christianity on the Slovenian grounds (3rd century) and leads them through its approximately 1,700-year-long history; and “Life behind Cloister Walls”, which focuses on the history and mission of the Cistercian Monastery. The ground-floor of the Museum is reserved for temporary exhibitions and video projections.
