Public guided tour through the exhibition From our collections: Milan Butina, set designer

Slovenian Theatre Institute

Guided Tour / 03.12.2023, 16:00 - 17:00

As part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth, the exhibition From Our Collections: Milan Butina, Set Designer is on display at the Slovenian Theatre Institute until 29 December 2023.

Milan Butina is considered to be the founder of art theory in Slovenia, but he was not only a painter and art theorist, but also a man of the theatre. As a set designer (and often also costume designer) he co-created more than ninety productions. The exhibition at the Slovenian Theatre Institute focuses on the artist's oeuvre as a scenographer. It features a selection of sketches from the period between 1951 and 1967, representing scenographic designs for twenty-four productions - seventeen were staged at the Ljubljana City Theatre, one each in Celje, Trieste and Kranj, and four remained unrealised.

You will be guided through the exhibition by the exhibition's author, curator mag. Tea Rogelj.

Free entry!
