The motif of Ivan Cankar, the famous Slovenian writer, is a source for Boljka' s sculptural reflections on the position of the Slovene artist. The motif is recognisable through depictions of Ivan Cankar' s most famous physical feature- the so-called "Cankar moustaches" and the flower of the white chrysanthemum, which serves as a link between the artist and his famous literary allegory. The pose of the Christ on the cross in which the writer is depicted, is an allusion to Cankar' s tough life and his tragic fate of an outcast, visionary burdened by small mindedness of his countryman and an unhappy lover.
